Wellness Court Coordinator

Job Summary

Coordinate the Nisqually Healing to Wellness Court by independently planning, assigning, and carrying out program projects while developing and implementing new policies and procedures. Manage administrative and supervisory functions within the department, including reviewing and evaluating applications, monitoring client progress against treatment goals, and referring participants to community resources for housing, vocational training, and health services. Plan and coordinate all court functions such as receiving filings, maintaining case files, and preparing monthly reports, while collaborating with attorneys, probation officers, and medical providers to ensure compliance with court orders. Make timely decisions regarding work priorities, establish fiscal year goals, and recommend new court services to the Court Administrator and Judge.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in social services, criminal justice, and/or legal services OR four (4) years of relevant experience
  • Four (4) years of relevant experience working in tribal, state, and/or local court systems
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug test
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable under the Tribe's insurance policy
  • Must be bondable
  • Must be willing to become a notary within six months of being hired
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of tribal court systems, tribal law, and legal terminology
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, budgets, and management practices
  • Knowledge and skills relating to principles and practices of employee supervision
  • Knowledge of the Nisqually Tribal Code as applicable
  • Knowledge of principles and procedures of record keeping and reporting, including internal case file management
  • Advanced knowledge of current technological software programs, specifically Microsoft Programs
  • Knowledge of Nisqually Tribal Community
  • Ability to communicate well orally and in writing
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions and/or potentially violent situations and manage difficult people
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Ability to analyze problems, identify solutions, forecast project consequences, and implement recommendations in support of court goals
  • Ability to research, analyze, interpret, and apply federal and tribal policies, procedures, laws, and regulations
  • Ability to exercise good judgement, flexibility, and creativity while being culturally sensitive
  • Ability to work cooperatively with groups and individuals while managing a large caseload in an efficient and effective manner
  • Ability to present clear and concise information in a courtroom setting
  • Ability to give oral presentations to large and small groups
