Wellness Counselor

Job Summary

Conduct face-to-face wellness sessions with assigned CID Agents and manage case coordination for personnel referred to external treatment facilities. Perform case management for individuals following inpatient care or substance abuse programs, ensuring appropriate services are provided and treatment completion is verified. Visit designated hub locations for counseling services and track all cases through the government-provided system. Deliver skills-building educational programs, crisis debriefing, and formal briefings to leadership while maintaining professional liability insurance standards. Manage approximately 65-100 personnel with a focus on prevention and resilience building within the USACID force.

Required Qualifications

  • Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC)
  • Master's degree from an accredited graduate program
  • Valid unrestricted license from a State, the District of Columbia, a U.S. Commonwealth, or a U.S. Territory that grants authority to provide counseling services as an independent practitioner
  • Ability to practice at the independent level without requiring state mandated clinical supervision
  • Working knowledge of professional standards and ethics regarding the delivery of social work services
  • Experience in brief behavioral interventions
  • Experience in critical incident event management
  • Experience in public speaking
  • Experience in case management
  • Professional liability insurance of at least $1,000,000 per occurrence; $3,000,000 aggregate
  • Minimum of six years of full-time professional experience post-licensure
  • Understanding of law enforcement
  • Understanding of the military lifestyle and culture
  • Ability to effectively communicate with individuals and groups of diverse backgrounds, including enlisted personnel, officers, senior military and civilian leadership, spouses and other family members
  • Well-versed in crisis debriefing
  • Well-versed in individual and family counseling
  • Well-versed in case management
  • Well-versed in training
  • Ability to develop, prepare and present formal briefings and speeches to USACIDC leadership (at all echelons)
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Must pass an extensive background investigation
  • Ability to operate general office equipment including but not limited to: computer, phones and related media and information devices on most or all workdays
  • Ability to communicate and interact with others, both in person and/or by telephone to conduct business
  • Ability to work under time pressure
  • Ability to work rapidly for long periods to meet deadlines
  • Must be able to lift 10 lbs occasionally
