Job Summary
Wellness Coach position in Boston as part of Walker’s Wellness Coach Program (WCP), an AmeriCorps service role supporting students in emotional/behavioral health in Boston Public Schools and OST programs. The role involves 1:1 and small-group coaching to develop social-emotional skills, executive functioning, and behavior health strategies, under supervision of licensed clinicians. Onboarding begins Aug 31, 2026 with 4 weeks of training; service hours range 13–40 per week across 450/900/1200 hour slots, typically aligning with school/after-school schedules. Service is non-employee, stipend-based, with travel to Roxbury and other Boston locations; optimal for individuals early in their career pursuing mental health, education, or youth development. Required qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, age 18+, background checks, reliable transportation, and commitment to the full service term. Skills emphasize strong communication, organizational ability, and experience working with youth; bilingual candidates are encouraged.
Required Qualifications
- High school Diploma/ GED equivalent
- Be 18 years old or older at start of service
- Able to pass NSOPW, NSCHC, and FBI background checks
- Reliable transportation to attend service site and trainings
- Commit to 13-40 hours per week from Aug 31 2026-Jul 17 2027
- Commit to 11-month (45 week) service term aligned with school calendar
- Facilitate structured 1:1 and small group coaching sessions
- Provide coaching in school-day or OST settings
- Do not include clerical tasks or substitute teaching
- Travel to Roxbury office and off-site Boston locations for onboarding and training
- Attend orientation and training; complete required hours
- Participate in weekly meetings and bi-weekly seminars
- Document and submit activity notes
- Uphold professional boundaries
- Demonstrate proficiency in basic computer systems
- Excellent oral and written communication
- Bilingual encouraged
- Experience working with youth
