Job Summary

Deliver engaging instruction using appropriate strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology that address diverse learning styles and student needs. Implement lesson plans aligned with the district's curriculum while conducting ongoing assessments of student achievement using both formal and informal methods. Manage student behavior effectively, ensure safety in a welding lab environment, and collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula for students receiving accommodations. Direct the work of assigned instructional aides and volunteers, organize accurate record-keeping, and maintain open communication with parents, colleagues, and the community. Foster a dynamic learning environment that supports intellectual, emotional, physical, and social development while adhering to all state, district, and school regulations.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for the subject and level assigned
  • Trades and Industrial Education (T&I) Grades 6-12
  • Three (3) years of welding industry experience
  • American Welding Society (AWS) certification or ability to obtain within the first year of employment
  • Knowledge of subject(s) assigned
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy
  • Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and the formulation of action plans
  • Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
  • Ability to engage in self-evaluation regarding performance and professional growth
  • Demonstrate professionalism, ethical conduct, and accountability in all interactions and responsibilities
  • Advanced organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of welding machines (MIG, TIG, Stick), cutting torches, plasma cutters, grinders, power tools, hand tools, and ventilation systems
  • Knowledge of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as welding helmets, gloves, jackets, and safety glasses
  • Must follow strict safety protocols to minimize risk
  • Occasional districtwide and statewide travel

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Associate degree with an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • One (1) year of clinical teaching
  • One (1) year of full-time teaching experience
  • Trades and Industrial Education (T&I) Grades 6-12 (preferred)
