Job Summary
Welding Manager for Starship Build overseeing up to 120 technicians across two shifts. Lead modification, repair, assembly, and integration of production welds to meet on-time delivery and quality targets. Manage the complete production process within a defined area, ensure safety, resolve non-conformance issues, review work instructions, and maintain tight production schedules. Provide technical support to the welding team and collaborate with engineering and other departments to streamline weld processes, tooling/fixturing, and fit-up. Responsible for welding quality control, adherence to welding codes (AWS D17.1, D1.1, D1.6, D1.2), and sustaining high workmanship standards. Develop and enforce training programs, monitor labor hours, manage capacity planning, and drive continuous improvement and cost savings. Must be willing to work all shifts and travel up to 10% as needed; ITAR-compliant eligibility required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or associate degree and 4+ years of GTAW, FCAW, or GMAW experience
- 3+ years of management experience
- Trade school certificate

- Safety training experience or safety certifications
- Experience with AWS welding standards (D1.1, D1.6, D1.2)
- Experience leading teams and leveraging lean manufacturing
- Strong communication with engineering and production teams
- Ability to interpret drawings and weld symbols per AWS D17.1
- Capability to manage capacity planning, scheduling, and cost optimization
