Job Summary
Welding Instruction and Trades Outreach Specialist for After School Matters to expand welding and trades-based programs across ASM sites, planning and teaching daytime, after-school, and summer welding sessions, and providing support to other programs. Build and sustain partnerships to create career pathways for teens pursuing welding and related trades, coordinate recruitment and outreach, ensure program quality and compliance, and communicate policy updates. Collaborate with instructors, program staff, schools, and community organizations; supervise welding/trades instructors; travel to ASM sites as needed; lead planning and facilitation of school-year, after-school, and summer welding programs; support administration via Cityspan; manage budgets and resources; foster relationships with stakeholders and partners; participate in branch events and community outreach. Knowledge and abilities include certified welding with teaching experience, stakeholder engagement, project planning/execution, strong organizational and communication skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office. Preferred qualifications include Bachelor’s degree and youth-programs experience. The role begins June 2026 and is full-time with a schedule mirroring school-year hours in addition to summer sessions, located in Chicago, IL, with on-site responsibilities.
Required Qualifications
- Certified Welder with 2+ Years Experience Teaching Welding
- 2+ Years Managing Staff
- 2+ Years Youth Programming Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree a Plus
- Valid Driver’s License
- Cook County residency required
