Job Summary
Welding Inspector Specialist (Night Shift) responsible for performing internal and external weld inspections to determine weldment acceptance per applicable codes, standards, or documents. Interpret drawings and specifications, compile and submit data on weld quality, recommend and approve repairs, develop welding procedure specifications (WPS), and complete welder qualification records. Utilize theodolite and other tools for layout, apply industry standards (AWS/ASME) and internal requirements, and support a high-paced aerospace environment. Qualifications include Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), 3+ years in weld inspection, 5+ years in structural or pipe fabrication/welding, and experience with nondestructive examination (NDE) methods and ultrasonic testing (UT). Preferred include ASNT Level II certifications (MT/UT/VT), extensive knowledge of AWS/ASME standards, and familiarity with aerospace materials. The role requires ability to work a night shift (6:00 pm – 6:00 am), travel up to 20%, and compliance with ITAR and SpaceX Equal Opportunity guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification
- 3+ years of experience in weld inspection
- 5+ years of experience in structural or pipe fabrication and welding
- Experience working with nondestructive examination (NDE) methodologies and ultrasonic testing (UT) inspections
