Job Summary
Conduct welding inspections on fixed plant, piping, pressure equipment, and structural steel while verifying compliance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications and industry standards. Review weld maps, inspection reports, material traceability records, and quality documentation to identify defects, non-conformances, and corrective actions. Coordinate and witness non-destructive testing activities, liaise with QA/QC personnel, supervisors, and contractors, and maintain accurate project documentation. Monitor fabrication, repair, and maintenance activities throughout shutdown and maintenance campaigns in the Gladstone region, ensuring adherence to AS/NZS, ISO, and relevant welding codes.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Welding Inspector within mining, shutdowns, maintenance, construction, fabrication, or heavy industrial environments
- Strong knowledge of welding inspection techniques and industry standards
- Experience inspecting structural, piping, and mechanical maintenance works
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, welding procedures, and technical specifications
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities
- Recognised Welding Inspector qualification (CSWIP 3.1, WTIA, AWS CWI, or equivalent)
- Current Australian Driver's Licence
- Construction White Card
- Ability to pass pre-employment medicals and drug & alcohol testing
- Full Australian working rights
Desired Qualifications
- Previous shutdown and turnaround experience
- Experience within mining, mineral processing, LNG, ports, power generation, or heavy industry
- NDT qualifications or experience working closely with NDT providers
- Knowledge of AS/NZS, ISO, and relevant welding codes and standards
- Mechanical or Boilermaker Trade Qualification
- Working at Heights and Confined Space Entry certifications
- Experience with QA/QC management systems and ITPs
- Local Gladstone or Central Queensland industry experience
