Job Summary
Welding & Fabrication Technician III at Medtronic performing installation, preventative maintenance, and repair of manufacturing equipment with emphasis on welding, fabrication, and mechanical system modification. Responsible for diagnosing equipment failures across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, vacuum, and electronic subsystems; performing TIG/MIG welding and fabricating custom parts using CNC equipment; interpreting schematics and fabrication drawings; maintaining maintenance logs and welding records; estimating labor and materials; and collaborating with engineering/operations to implement sustainable, reliability-improving solutions. Must be able to work onsite at a minimum of five days per week in a manufacturing/industrial setting, with experience in regulated environments and familiarity with blueprints, welding symbols, and safety/compliance requirements. For this role, U.S. work authorization sponsorship is limited to Principal-level roles and above; no relocation or sponsorship details beyond standard benefits are specified. The position offers a competitive salary range of $59,200–$88,800 and a comprehensive benefits package.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 4 years of related work experience
- Hands-on welding and fabrication experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment
- Technical certification in welding, fabrication, industrial maintenance, or related field (preferred)
- Experience with TIG and MIG welding (stainless steel and/or aluminum preferred)
- Ability to read blueprints, mechanical drawings, and weld symbols
- Experience with automated manufacturing equipment in regulated environments (medical device, pharma, aerospace)
- Familiarity with PLCs, HMIs, or automated systems
- Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methods
