Job Summary
Develop and qualify welding procedures for new products and processes while providing technical support to production welding operations. Conduct root cause analysis of welding defects and implement corrective actions, and evaluate and recommend new welding equipment, technologies, and materials. Collaborate with design engineers to ensure weldability and manufacturability of components, and perform welding process audits to ensure compliance with industry standards and specifications. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in welding processes (e.g., GMAW, GTAW, FCAW, SAW) within a manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated knowledge of welding codes and standards (e.g., AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, API 1104)
- Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and weld symbols
- Experience with root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions for welding defects
- Strong understanding of material science, metallurgy, and their impact on weld quality
Desired Qualifications
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification
- Experience with robotic welding systems and programming
- Familiarity with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods and interpretation
- Project management experience in a manufacturing environment
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for fixture design and analysis
