Job Summary
Conduct hands-on weld repair and modification of prototypes to support product development testing while performing RT quality pipe welds and UT nozzle welds in all positions. Maintain full compliance with ASME Section IX by preparing, auditing quality records, and managing material traceability. Write weld sizing calculations, review designs, and monitor welding procedures to ensure alignment with ASME/AWS code requirements. Operate welding equipment, create drawings, and interpret WPSs and PQRs while performing visual and mechanical inspections per engineering specifications. Collaborate with Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering teams to resolve defects, analyze process efficiency, and drive cost-saving improvements. Complete periodic welding tests and qualifications in compliance with established procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field
- 3+ years of experience with quality systems, audits, procedures, and NDE/NDT methods
- 3+ years of experience with hands on welding
- 5+ years of experience in fabrication and/or manufacturing environments
- Strong working knowledge of ASME BPVC Section IX and AWS codes
- Knowledgeable in ASME inspection processes (incoming inspection, material certification, marking, and in process inspection)
- Solid understanding of metallurgy, heat treatment, and welding processes
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including weld symbols and finish callouts
- Ability to work with Authorized ASME Inspectors and present documentation for review and approval
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present information and address questions from managers, departments, and customers
- Proficiency with ERP and PLM systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Teams, SharePoint, PowerPoint)
- Required to pass periodic welding tests and qualifications in compliance with qualification procedures

Desired Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in heavy industrial fabrication, with heavy emphasis in welding processes and quality control
- Minimum 5 years of experience with ASME BPVC Section VIII Div 1 pressure vessels
- Pressure Fabrications (ASME BVPC U, UM, R stamps/Pipe B31.3, B31.8, API 1104/Mechanical Fabrications)
- Knowledgeable in FEA Processes and ANSYS
- Practical ANSYS experience manipulating, modeling, and analyzing complex 3-D assemblies
- Experience with optimization and DOE methods
