Job Summary
Design and develop welding processes and procedures for manufacturing operations. Conduct root cause analysis on welding defects and implement corrective actions. Evaluate and select appropriate welding equipment, consumables, and robotic systems while developing and maintaining welding specifications and quality control standards. Provide technical support and training to welding technicians and manufacturing personnel. Implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize welding efficiency and quality. This role requires a Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering or related field with 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in welding engineering within a manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated expertise in various welding processes (e.g., GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, SAW) and their application to different materials (e.g., carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum)
- Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols, as well as developing welding procedures (WPS) and qualifying welders (PQR)
- Strong understanding of relevant industry codes, standards, and specifications (e.g., AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX)
Desired Qualifications
- AWS CWI certification
- Experience with robotic welding systems
- Familiarity with NDT methods (UT, MT, PT, RT)
- Project management experience
