Job Summary
Plan and perform welding, layout, fitting, cutting, and assembly operations on structural and sheet metal components using processes like GMAW, GTAW, plasma, and oxyacetylene cutting. Select appropriate consumables, execute all welding positions including tack welding in confined spaces, and ensure work meets prescribed tolerances and quality standards. Work from blueprints and drawings to determine operational sequences, fit parts using fixtures, and inspect completed work for conformance. Maintain welding equipment and work areas, identify production issues, and recommend corrective actions. Train and mentor team members while demonstrating competency in crane and forklift operations.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to weld a full range of materials, sizes, and shapes using multiple welding processes, including gas metal arc welding (GMAW), gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), plasma, oxyacetylene cutting, and brazing
- Select appropriate rods, wires, tips, and electrodes for each operation
- Perform all positions of welding, including tack welding, sometimes in confined spaces
- Work from blueprints, drawings, sketches, welding symbols, specifications, and instructions to plan work in proper operational sequence and determine appropriate methods and techniques
- Fit and position parts using fixtures and precision measuring instruments
- Inspect completed work to ensure conformance to specifications
- Identify job flow or production issues while recommending corrective actions to support efficient operations
- Complete crane and/or forklift training and demonstrate competency in safe operation and rigging
- Moderately heavy work requires the occasional lifting of objects weighing 50 pounds or less
- Operate a variety of industrial machining tools
- Lift/Carry 0-10 lbs. continuously, 11-50 lbs. frequently, 51-100 lbs. never
- Push/Pull 0-25 lbs. continuously, 26-100 lbs. frequently
- Bend 34-66% during a 10-hour shift
- Twist/Turn 34-66% during a 10-hour shift
- Kneel/Squat 0-33% during a 10-hour shift
- Sit 0-33% during a 10-hour shift
- Stand/Walk 0-33% during a 10-hour shift
- Overhead Reaching 0-33% during a 10-hour shift
- Ladder/Stair Climb 0-33% during a 10-hour shift
- Available for Day shift: work hours are 4/10 hour days, Monday-Thursday
- Available for Night shift: work hours are 4/10 hour days, Monday-Thursday, 15% shift differential
- Available for Weekend shift: work hours are 3/12 hour days, Friday-Sunday, 15% shift differential
