Job Summary
Assemble and weld structural steel using processes such as flux-cored arc welding. Rig, hoist, and move materials while performing daily crane checks. Lay out reference points and symbols on steel according to blueprints. Operate welding equipment, torches, drills, and clamping tools. Ensure safe work practices and appropriate PPE are followed at all times. Mentor apprentices and junior welders by sharing knowledge and safe work practices. Work in the Princeton, ON facility, reporting to the Team Leader. Minimum 2 years of welding structural steel experience required. Wage range $22.00-$33.00/hour with vacation, sick leave, RRSP matching, and profit sharing.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of welding structural steel experience
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and weld symbols
- Ability to read a tape measure in both metric and imperial
- Ability to operate overhead cranes
- Ability to weld with Fluxcore and Metalcore (FCAW/MCAW)
- Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures
- A team player, who can interrelate and operate effectively with peers and other associates within a collegial, yet demanding, work environment
- Organization Skills and the ability to be flexible in managing changing priorities
- Communication skills – both written and oral
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Analytical and problem solving skills
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of three year apprenticeship program in Metal Fabrication or Welding
