Job Summary
Cut and join metals and other materials at facilities or construction sites using TIG and GTAW techniques to assemble mechanical structures with precision. Weld pipes of varying diameters and wall thicknesses, align components using callipers and clamps, and set up equipment for manual or semi-automatic welding. Read blueprints, take measurements, and perform complex mechanical installations per engineering direction. After each weld, scan surfaces to check for voids or defects and report any machine damages. Maintain equipment to ensure safety standards are met while adhering to specifications for maximum efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- minimum 5 years of experience as a welder
- minimum 5 years of experience using a variety of welding equipment, machinery, and procedures (TIG, GTAW)
- Good knowledge of English
- 5 years of experience in using electrical or manual tools
- Strong understanding of weld quality standards and procedures
- Ability to use grinders, cutting tools, and other hand tools for metal preparation
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
- Good knowledge of and adherence to safety standards
- Attention to detail
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Good time-management skills
- Strong attention to detail and quality control
- Great interpersonal and communication skills
- Successful completion of a relevant apprenticeship program is required
Desired Qualifications
- Professional Certification (e.g. an AWS welding certificate) will be a plus
