Job Summary
Install hot tap fittings for commercial and industrial meter and regulator stations, fabricate and weld pipe and fittings, and fuse plastic components in the shop and on job sites. Participate in pipeline system installation and repair as part of a crew, advise management on material ordering needs, and act as a Job Leader when necessary. Maintain tools and equipment, complete maintenance forms, and operate line locators while adhering to safety protocols and working in adverse weather conditions. May require announced or unannounced overtime and call-out work during non-working hours or emergencies.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent GED
- Minimum of five years of related welding experience
- Successfully passed all test requirements for welding certification
- Maintain annual or other re-certification requirements
- Valid State of Ohio Driver's License
- Good driving record
- Commercial Driver's License
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Ability to deal with the general public in a pleasant and courteous manner at all times
- Ability to understand and follow written and/or oral instructions
- Ability to operate line locators, and other tools and equipment used in the construction and repair of the utility system
- Extensive working knowledge of the occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions applicable to this type of work
- Familiar with the use of protective clothing and safety equipment
- Accept responsibility for the direction, control, or planning of an activity
- Ability to perform well under stress, when confronted with emergency, critical, unusual, or dangerous situations
- Ability to maintain sufficient strength to lift heavy objects
- Ability to successfully work in adverse weather conditions
- Ability to respond to call-out work during non-working hours or emergencies
- Successfully complete pre-employment drug and physical testing
- Subject to random testing as outlined in the Company's Drug and Alcohol policy
- Must be able to work independently without supervision
