Job Summary
Lay out, align, and weld fabricated, cast, and forged components to assemble structural forms such as machinery frames, tanks, pressure vessels, and pipe according to blueprints and metallurgy. Select metals and equipment per specifications, plan layouts and assembly, and apply knowledge of geometry and welding techniques. Execute SMAW, GTAW, or other arc welding processes in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions, tack weld assemblies, and manually guide electrodes while maintaining arc length and speed. Examine welds for bead size and specifications, set machine parameters, and perform minor maintenance on tools and equipment. Must live within a 50-mile radius of the Bloomfield, NM facility and work without sponsorship.
Required Qualifications
- Authorization to work lawfully in the US without sponsorship from Wood
- Must live within a 50 mile radius of the facility
- Must be capable of certifying on single process plate proficient in SMAW or GTAW welding processes
- May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area
- Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field
- Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
- Respiratory protection is common and may be required
- Required to pass employer performance tests or standard tests to meet certification standards
