Job Summary
Follow applicable welding procedures (AWS, AISC) while welding structural, bridge, and industrial materials in ground, above, and below ground positions. Chip, peen, and grind material to prepare for welding or finish, then perform gouging and scarfing as needed. Transport material by crane and maintain a clean, organized work area. Adhere to all safety rules and PPE requirements while passing required AWS D1.1 weld tests. Requires a high school diploma or GED, 12 months of stable work experience, and a valid AWS D1.1 weld test certificate.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 12 months of stable work experience
- Ability to pass required weld test
- Cert in AWS D1.1 weld test
- Knowledge of common heat reactions of structural metals
- Certifiable status
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- Knowledge of hand tools and welding equipment
