Job Summary
Perform freight car repairs, inspect, repair, rebuild and service railroad freight cars in accordance with AAR/FRA and railroad rules using hand tools, power tools, acetylene torches and welding equipment. Conduct inspections of rolling stock for defects and compliance, remove and replace defective components, operate shop machines, and maintain safe work practices. This role requires physical labor (bending, kneeling, lifting), ability to communicate in English, and occasional on-call travel to different locations. CDL is a plus; valid driver's license and willingness to travel may be required.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
- Experience with welding and machine/tools
- Willingness to work overtime and on-call
- Valid driver's license (preferred)
- CDL is a plus
- Physical ability to perform manual labor including bending, kneeling, lifting (25-75 lbs repeatedly)
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to travel or work at multiple locations across the United States
