Job Summary
Welding and mechanical repairs on tank cars, including tanks, bolsters, underframes, and related components; operate air arc cutting torch and stick or wire welding equipment; perform welded repairs and repairs/straighten/rework car parts using hand and power tools; read and follow safety rules, manuals, and assembly documents; maintain a neat work area; flexible to work overtime; requires a high school diploma and ability to pass welding tests; capable of teamwork in an industrial setting with exposure to demanding conditions and PPE requirements.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must pass the applicable welding test as prescribed by the company
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with minimal supervision
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and assembly documents
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail
- Ability to work any shift, including overtime
- Dependable attendance and reliability
- Welding certifications
- Experience in an Industrial Repair or Manufacturing environment
- Rail industry experience
- Valve and fittings experience
- Tank car knowledge or experience
