Job Summary
Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions using TIG, gas metal arc, and other processes on aluminum, stainless steel, and cast iron. Operate manual and semi-automatic welding equipment, set up torches, and adjust gas flow to fuse metal segments while monitoring for warping or distortion. Lay out, align, and secure parts using measuring tools before assembly, then examine workpieces for defects to ensure conformance with specifications. Analyze engineering drawings and blueprints to plan operations, mark materials with job numbers, and maintain production consistency by reviewing weld quality. Operate safety equipment, maintain a clean work area, and assist other welders as needed.
Required Qualifications
- 2 years' experience in welding in a manufacturing environment
- 2 years or more experience with welding Aluminum Sheet Metal
- considerable knowledge of principles and practices of TIG Welding
- effective oral, and written communication skills
- Have thorough understanding of TIG Welding fundamentals and operation
- Must have ability to produce quality welds on a variety of materials as needed
- Set-up and maintain equipment, settings, gas, choosing proper rod etc
- Read drawings and measure with gage's, calipers etc per instructions
- Set-up and maintain production consistency, reviewing weld quality, proper fitting and weld techniques
- Maintain organized, clean work area
- Assist with other TIG Welders when needed
