Job Summary
Operate ARC or MIG welding equipment on hand-welding operations for production environments using lean and 5S methodologies. Regulate gas flow, current, and voltage to ensure proper metal penetration and fusion. Select appropriate electrodes and manually guide welding tools along lines while maintaining arc length and speed. Position metal components using bolts, clamps, or tack welding, then examine finished welds for bead size and specifications. Maintain a clean work area and possess necessary tools to complete essential duties. Read engineered drawings with assistance and adjust machine settings for desired flame and penetration.
Required Qualifications
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
- one to three years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area circumference, and volume
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Attendance at work during the regularly scheduled shift
