Job Summary
Conduct welding tasks using MIG, TIG, and arc techniques to join and fabricate metal parts for truck beds. Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine methods and materials, then set up and operate equipment including gas cylinders, torches, and machines. Inspect welds for accuracy and conformance, adjusting as necessary, while maintaining a safe environment by adhering to safety procedures and hazardous material disposal protocols. Perform routine equipment maintenance, report issues promptly, and collaborate with fabricators and quality control personnel to ensure efficient workflow. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by suggesting process enhancements. Requires high school diploma, proven welding experience, and proficiency in various techniques; physical duties include lifting up to 50 pounds and extended standing.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification
- Proven experience as a welder in a manufacturing or similar environment
- Proficiency in various welding techniques including MIG, TIG, and arc welding
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
- Strong attention to detail and quality with the ability to produce accurate welds
- Knowledge of safety procedures and practices related to welding operations
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions effectively
- Ability to lift and carry metal components, welding equipment, or tools weighing up to 50 pounds (22.7 kilograms) or more
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to bend, stoop, and kneel
- Ability to manipulate welding equipment such as torches, welding guns, and welding rods with precision and control
- Ability to push or pull welding carts, workpieces, or fixtures
- Ability to use hand and power tools such as grinders, clamps, and hammers
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of the LEAN Manufacturing production model
- Welding certification or relevant vocational training
