Job Summary
Lead day-to-day welding operations within a fabrication shop, assigning tasks, interpreting complex blueprints, and ensuring workflow efficiency. Perform advanced welding on heavy plate steel and structural components while inspecting welds for dimensional accuracy and compliance. Coordinate closely with fitters and machine operators to ensure proper assembly sequences, enforce strict safety protocols, and oversee maintenance of welding equipment. Monitor production timelines to meet delivery schedules and mentor welders on techniques and quality standards. Troubleshoot fabrication challenges including distortion and material issues to support continuous improvement efforts.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 5 years exp. of heavy welding experience in a metal fabrication or structural steel environment
- Ability to read and interpret detailed shop drawings and blueprints
Desired Qualifications
- welding certification or trade school training
- 2 years exp. of leadership or lead welder experience
