Job Summary
Perform high-quality welding and fabricating tasks on structural crane components using MIG, TIG, and stick techniques. Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and engineering specifications to determine precise welding requirements for materials like steel and aluminum. Use fabrication tools including saws, drills, and welding machines to assemble torsion boxes, booms, masts, and outriggers while ensuring all work meets industry standards and safety regulations. Inspect materials and structures for defects, identify unsafe conditions, and maintain a clean work environment. Read and interpret production drawings, set up equipment, and collaborate with engineers to ensure proper fit and alignment. Adhere to schedule, maintain regular attendance, and work overtime as needed.

- Weld and fabricate structural crane components including torsion box and bed assemblies, multi-piece booms, masts, and outriggers
- Use a variety of fabrication tools and equipment such as saws, drills, grinders, welding machines, and bridge cranes
- Ensure that all welds meet industry standards and safety regulations
- Inspect materials and structures to identify defects or areas that require repair
- Collaborate with engineers and fabricators to ensure proper fit and alignment of components
- Assist in the assembly and installation of crane structures when necessary
- Hands-on welding experience

Desired Qualifications
- Proven experience as a structural welder, preferably with crane or heavy machinery experience
- Certification in welding (e.g., AWS or other recognized certifications)
- Proficient in welding techniques including MIG, TIG, and stick welding
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols
- Thorough knowledge of various metals and their characteristics/qualities including the correct welding processes and the effects of welding on the material
- Skilled in inspecting welds for defects such as cracks, porosity, and undercuts, and ensuring they pass quality checks for strength and integrity
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently or within a team environment
- Experience in crane assembly, repair, or maintenance
