Job Summary
Welder II performs intermediate to advanced MIG, TIG and stick welding on aluminum and steel, interpreting blueprints and weld symbols, fitting and assembling components, and executing complex welds including vertical and overhead positions. The role requires inspecting welds to company standards, troubleshooting issues in the field or shop, mentoring Welder III staff, maintaining equipment, and adhering to safety protocols. The position supports vessel construction, repair and modification projects and collaborates with supervisors and other trades to meet timelines and quality expectations; preferred candidates have formal welding training or certification and familiarity with aluminum welding, with 2-5 years of welding experience in marine or heavy industrial environments.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2-5 years welding and fabrication experience, preferably in a marine or heavy industrial environment
- Demonstrated proficiency in multiple welding processes and positions
- Ability to read and interpret detailed blueprints and welding symbols
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Problem solving and troubleshooting abilities
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Leadership experience
- Valid US driver’s license and a clean driving record
- Must pass a security background check and DOT drug test
Desired Qualifications
- Formal welding training or certification preferred.
- Familiarity with aluminum welding strongly preferred.
