Job Summary
Check equipment and supplies, then use electric and gas welding to repair damaged parts or fabricate new ones, including building up worn metal and straightening bent components with a hydraulic press. Operate hand and power tools to disassemble, grind, and drill metal while kneeling, sitting, or standing in the shop or around equipment. Transport parts via service truck to perform welding and fabrication wherever required, using hoists to position large objects. May review blueprints to ensure proper dimensions and align boring to factory specifications. Requires six years of direct experience and ability to lift up to 95 pounds.
Required Qualifications
- High school education or GED
- Six years of direct work experience
- Must be able to daily and repeatedly stoop, kneel, bend and climb onto and underneath various equipment to perform diagnosis and repairs
- Must be able to effectively see to perform repairs, research technical manuals, and develop written repair work order reports
- Must be able to routinely and physically lift/position various parts to perform repairs/service and manually handle parts up to 95 pounds
- Must be able to effectively write repair activities on customer work orders
- Must have cognitive reasoning and problem-solving skills to apply knowledge, written information and verbal instructions in repairing/servicing unusual and/or unknown technical equipment operational problems
- Must have exposure to P.C. base equipment and parts information
