Job Summary
Welder II performs tack and finish welding of piping systems using SMAW, FCAW, SAW, GTAW and GMAW; welds small vessels and structural components to CCC-certified procedures (potential ASME, API, AWS, and ANSI codes); capable of back-gouging with carbon-arc or plasma for full penetration, cleaning and polishing welds to spec, and passing non-destructive testing of pressure-retaining welds. Works from drawings to determine weld size and location, inspects own work, assists with incoming parts inspection and final product inspection, and completes ASME code weld log documentation. Operates forklift, jib cranes and overhead crane. Maintains safety and company policies, and performs related duties as assigned. Requires CCC certification and typically holds or is pursuing ASME code welding credentials; typically requires 2-3 years welding experience and an Associate degree preferred. Work hours are Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM (40 hours/week); location is Equipment & Assembly Plant in Pittsburgh, PA; benefits include medical/dental/vision, HSA, 401k, PTO, tuition reimbursement, wellness programs, and professional development opportunities.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school is preferred
- Prior ASME welding certificates required
- 2-3 years welding experience is required
- ASME code welding is preferred
