Job Summary
Experienced Welder needed for ship repair, modernization, and Alteration Installation Team projects within the Fleet Services Group. Responsibilities include joining, fabricating, and repairing metal and weldable materials; performing SMAW, GMAW, and GTAW welding on pipes, structures, and fittings tied to shipboard hydraulic, pneumatic, and water systems; fabricating fixtures for welding alignments; interpreting blueprints and NAVSEA/ABS/AWS standards; inspecting welds for structural soundness; installing or repairing equipment such as pipes, valves, floors, and tank linings. Requirements include a high school/trade degree, 5-10 years of direct ship repair HM&E experience, ability to interpret installation drawings, ability to obtain SECRET clearance and base access, and willingness to travel as needed. Travel may be required; role is open to U.S. citizens only.
Required Qualifications
- High school, trade or vocational school degree
- 5-10 years direct experience in ship repair and HM&E systems
- Ability to read and interpret ship installation drawings and NAVSEA standards
- Ability to obtain SECRET clearance
- Ability to obtain base access and security credentials
- Ability to lift 30 lbs or more
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required
- U.S. citizenship due to export control regulations
