Job Summary
Welder I role focused on fabricating, assembling, and repairing metal structures using TIG and related welding techniques. The position requires interpreting blueprints and welding symbols, setting up parts with hand tools, clamps, jigs and fixtures, and performing cutting, grinding, and finishing to meet specifications and safety standards. Responsibilities include planning work orders, monitoring welding and fitting processes to prevent overheating or distortion, preparing and tack-welding parts, maintaining and cleaning equipment, notifying supervisors of faulty materials, performing related duties including machine operation, quality control, and required documentation. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and 6 months+ welding experience, with proficiency in welding safety, materials, and metallurgy, and the ability to work independently with attention to detail.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 6months+ of hands on experience in welding and fabrication applications: cutting, welding/brazing, drilling, marking/engraving, welding of dissimilar metals a plus
- Proficient in welding safety, weld filler selection, weld processing parameters, fixturing
- Familiarity and experience with metallurgy, weld joint analysis, backing gas applications
- Strong cognitive and clear communication skills which emphasize attention to detail
- Self-motivated, with the ability to lead projects to completion with minimal oversight, while demonstrating significant problem-solving ability
- Be able to work independently and unsupervised while prioritizing tasks
