Job Summary
Plan work order procedures, gather tools and materials, and fabricate, repair, and assemble metal structures using cutting, burning, and welding techniques. Interpret blueprints and technical drawings to execute work accurately while monitoring processes to prevent overheating or warping. Prepare, assemble, and tack weld parts; perform grinding and quality control; and maintain equipment and work areas. Notify the Team Leader of faulty equipment or defective materials. Perform prep work, grinding, and machine operation as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Three to six months related experience and/or training
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- 6 months+ of hands on experience in welding and fabrication applications
- Proficient in welding safety
- Proficient in weld filler selection
- Proficient in weld processing parameters
- Proficient in fixturing
- Familiarity and experience with metallurgy
- Familiarity and experience with weld joint analysis
- Familiarity and experience with backing gas applications
- Strong cognitive skills
- Clear communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to lead projects to completion with minimal oversight
