Job Summary
Welder I will fabricate, assemble, and repair metal structures using various welding techniques, interpreting blueprints and welding symbols to ensure precise, quality workmanship. Responsibilities include planning work orders, cutting, burning, welding, grinding, finishing, prepping and tacking welds, maintaining and cleaning equipment, monitoring the welding process to prevent warping or damage, notifying supervision of faulty equipment, performing related duties including machine operation, and conducting quality control and documentation.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED or equivalent
- 3-6 months related experience and/or training or equivalent education/experience
- 6+ months hands-on welding and fabrication experience (cutting, welding/brazing, drilling, marking/engraving; welding of dissimilar metals a plus)
- Proficient in welding safety, weld filler selection, weld processing parameters, fixturing
- Familiarity with metallurgy, weld joint analysis, backing gas applications
- Strong communication, attention to detail
- Ability to lead projects to completion with minimal oversight; problem-solving
- Ability to work independently and unsupervised; prioritize tasks
