Job Summary
Assist the welder in joining and connecting metal parts by operating hand and power tools in inclement weather. Lift, move, and clamp pipe and fittings; square and level connections. Clean weld joints and finished spools to remove slag, rust, and grease using wire brushes or portable grinders. Connect hoses from torches and beveling machines to gas cylinders or link power cables to electrode holders. Operate cutting torches and beveling machines, start diesel engines for welding generators, and maintain orderly work areas. Tag or mark finished spools and help roll them to new locations. Maintain equipment, inspect for problems, and attend required training sessions. Work 60 hours weekly with a 36 weeks on/17 weeks off rotation in Watford City, ND.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma, or Equivalent
- One (1) year electrical experience; industrial industry preferred
- Current and valid driver's license, with clean driving record required depending on location
- Current OSHA 10 and Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) certificates or be able to obtain upon hire
- Knowledge of welding
- Knowledge of hazardous materials and safety regulations and industry practices related to equipment use and operation
- Skilled in daily maintenance of machines including repairs and inspecting equipment to identify possible problems
- Ability to use time and equipment efficiently in order to complete projects on time
- Ability to handle stress and possess positive trait even in difficult or challenging situations
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to push/pull up to 100 pounds
- Visual acuity must be adequate to perform all required Job Description tasks in a safe manner
- Must comply with all Company and Client policies
- Must be able to obtain upon hire (for OSHA 10 and Hydrogen Sulfide certificates)
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of proper use of oxygen/acetylene cutting equipment, preferred
- Knowledge of proper use of equipment such as welder torch, electrode holder, drill press, gas welding and welding electrode, etc.
