Job Summary
Coordinate assigned fabrication areas and lead advanced welding tasks on high-performance aluminum boats for military and first responder clients. Clamp, tack-weld, grind, and fit metal components using gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, and plasma arc processes while monitoring for warping or distortion. Operate hoists, cranes, and production machinery to secure work pieces, set up equipment, and resolve complex quality issues with minimal supervision. Lead less experienced team members in training and assist leadership in developing standards and procedures. Maintain a safe work environment by enforcing safety practices and reporting misconduct. Report major issues to supervisors and effectively communicate with management.
Required Qualifications
- Superior skills in welding, fabrication & fitting
- Advanced knowledge and expertise in aluminum welding
- Superior knowledge in standard build practices in comparable manufacturing environments
- Advanced in most complex shop skills/tasks
- Follows directions and procedures under supervision
- Adheres to all procedures and safe work practices
- Conducts basic problem-solving skills under supervision
- Capable of leading team members at Dept. Lead or Supervisor's direction

- Any combination of training, education, or experience equivalent to 5 to 7 overall years of experience in area of expertise
- Aluminum experience required
- Requires a superior working knowledge in the usage of production machinery, common hand tools, handheld power tools and fabricating equipment
- Able to read and understand blueprints and weld symbols
- Experience in marine industry/boat building
- Ability to pass a welding skill test appropriate for the position
- Ability to get underway with high-speed watercraft in variable weather conditions
- Must be a Team Member in Good Standing
- Must have held current position for a minimum of 6 months
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- US citizen or lawful resident of the United States
Desired Qualifications
- GMAW (MIG) preferred
- Experience in marine industry/boat building preferred
