Job Summary
Perform welding and fabrication on heavy construction and mining equipment repairs. Maintain machinery by dressing electrodes, adjusting settings, and changing tooling while documenting work orders to ensure customer satisfaction. Operate spot welders, arc welders, plasma torches, and power grinders following all safety policies and company standards. Collaborate with technicians to troubleshoot repairs and participate in ongoing training to enhance mechanical skills. This role supports Ziegler CAT's service of construction and mining equipment in Minnesota and Iowa, emphasizing a team-focused approach to customer success.
Required Qualifications
- 2-year technical college degree/certificate in welding or related field
- high school diploma/GED and 2 years of comparable welding experience
- Able to operate spot welder, arc welder, plasma TIG welder, MIG welder, cutting torch, power grinder, power sander, hand-tools, bandsaw, drills, temporary fixturing devices, and other metal-fabrication equipment
- Able to read dimensional blueprints
- Ability to write and communicate effectively and interact with supervisors, customers and team members
- Basic computer skills to document work orders and utilize online diagnostic systems
- Own mechanic tool set
- Ability to maintain a safe and clean work environment
- Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment drug test
- Push/pull up to 50 lbs
- Lift/carry up to 60 lbs
- Lift bulky objects
- Standing, walking, using hands, talking, hearing, neck rotation, trunk rotation, stair climbing, ladder climbing, repetitive bending, kneeling, sustained squat, forward reaching, overhead reaching, supine overhead reaching, crawling, bin lift, high steps, fingering/grasping – able to use bolt box
