Job Summary
Fabricate, install, repair, or maintain metal assemblies using electric or gas welding equipment. Lays out, cuts, and fits materials for welding using blueprints, diagrams, work orders, or oral instructions. Welds using gas or arc welding processes; cuts defective parts and re-welds as directed. Repairs or fabricates metal assemblies such as truck bodies, tool and equipment racks, beams, handrails, gates, and related metal structures. Ensures weld quality by examining bead size and penetration. Performs other duties as assigned. Entrance level class with probation of six months.
Required Qualifications
- Open Requirements: Must have had at least two (2) years of welding experience.
- Licensing: A valid structural welder's certificate issued by the City of Jacksonville with a minimum of three (3) years of experience.
- A valid Florida driver's license is required prior to appointment and must be maintained during employment in this class.
