Job Summary
Welder responsible for MIG and Stick welding in a welding/fabrication area, reading and interpreting shop drawings, rebuilding truck bodies and containers, maintaining safety, quality, and productivity, preparing and processing paperwork, maintaining supplies, and ensuring accurate material handling. Requires familiarity with metals and fabrication, ability to interpret drawings, set up machines with correct wire speed/voltage/gas flow, and adherence to safety procedures. Experience with welding processes (MIG, Stick; TIG/spot-welding a plus) and OSHA-compliant safety practices. Full-time role based in Chicago, IL, with on-site responsibilities and a focus on quality, efficiency, and proactive maintenance.
Required Qualifications
- High school or equivalent
- 3 years welding experience (Preferred)
- MIG and Stick welding experience
- TIG and/or spot-welding experience is a plus
- Certified Welder & Metal Fabricator HUGE PLUS (preferred)
- Ability to safely use and operate shop tools and equipment (torches, band saws, iron workers, drill presses)
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- OSHA safety procedures knowledge (lock-out/tag out, incident reporting)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Independent working in a production environment
- Follow instructions and work orders
