Job Summary
Welder/Diver performs underwater welding and NDT tasks to support diving operations. The role involves surface and hyperbaric welding, maintaining government and commercial welding qualifications, complying with diving regulations, and reporting fitness to dive. Work environments include in-facility shifts, shipboard settings at sea, and remote job sites, with potential worldwide travel on emergency call-out basis. Responsibilities include following Diving Supervisor directives, maintaining diving equipment, keeping a diver’s logbook, training new personnel, and complying with safety and regulatory requirements. Must hold current AWS welding qualifications, maintain medical fitness, and be able to obtain a U.S. government security clearance; travel readiness is required. There is a strong emphasis on safety, adherence to policies, documentation, and continuous proficiency in welding and NDT procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of a professional diving school
- Minimum five years actual underwater-welding experience substantiated by a letter of qualification from a recognized diving company
- Must be a certified welder with current AWS D3.6 class A (dry weld) and class B (wet weld) qualifications
- Ability to pass annual diving physical
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance
- Able and willing to travel worldwide on short notice for indefinite periods
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and physical
