Job Summary
Welder role focused on setting up welding equipment, interpreting material lists and shop drawings, reading blueprints, sourcing materials, measuring and cutting to specifications, and performing MIG welding to join metals. Responsible for maintaining weld quality within blueprint tolerances, operating in a production facility with exposure to heat/cold, and extended shifts with overtime. Requires ability to work at heights, lift 25 lbs, and work up to 12 hours per day, up to six days per week. Must pass SCSG basic steel GMAW plate test per AWS D1.1 standards, demonstrate safe work practices, and be able to work from a priority system and with others or independently. Also includes crane operation, document updates, and adherence to safety procedures. Environmental conditions include extreme temperatures and outdoor/indoor variations. Required Qualifications
- Has prior welding experience or welding training at an accredited school
- Able to pass SCSG basic steel GMAW plate test per AWS D1.1 standards
- Able to repeatedly make basic steel fillet welds on dissimilar material thickness
- Able to weld at an acceptable pace.
- Able to weld at acceptable quality standards
- Demonstrates ability to work safely
- Able to work from a priority list
- Able to work with others or independently
- Be organized and keep necessary documents and prints updates with any changes
- Must be dependable and on time
- Must be able to work scheduled shifts and extra hours when needed
- Must be able to maintain a clean work area
- Must take good care of equipment
- Must be able to work from a priority system
- Must be able to MIG weld items at a safe and productive pace
- Must have working knowledge of welding and welding techniques
- Must be able to remove splatter and clean welds as necessary
- Must be able to adjust welding machine correctly
- Must be able to utilize cranes as needed for handling large items
- Must consistently make quality welds on various material
- Must be able to use small hand tools as necessary
- Must be organized and keep necessary documents and prints updated with any changes
- Must be able to work safely and follow all safety procedures and guidelines
- Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions
