Job Summary
Contract welder role at IPG focusing on TIG welding of stainless steel and other metals to precise tolerances. Candidate will read and interpret blueprints, set up material, perform tack or setup welds using TIG, fabricate in a job shop, weld weldments per drawings, verify conformance to specs, and grind/polish edges. Requires familiarity with measuring tools (tape measure, caliper, micrometer, machinist square, protractor), ability to read drawings, operate a bending brake press, and maintain safety and quality standards across high-strength/pressure assemblies.
Required Qualifications
- At least 5 years' experience as a TIG welder with the ability to fabricate in a job shop environment
- Experience with steel or mild steel, material ranging from 1/16" up to 1/2"
- Use grinders, saws, polishers, hand tools, power tools
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints without assistance
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English
- Able to operate a bending brake press
- Ability to accurately read a tape measure
- Leveling and squaring ability (without the assistance of others)
- Ability to occasionally push/pull/carry up to 50 pounds by oneself
- Regularly required to stand for a minimum of 8 hours per day.
- Frequently required to grasp, handle/feel objects, control/manage tools, and use hands/arms.
