Job Summary
Welder (Contract) at IPG: perform TIG welding on stainless steel and other metals in a job-shop setting, reading and interpreting blueprints to meet tolerances, set up material (stainless sheet metal, tubing), weld parts and weldments per drawings, grind/polish edges, and ensure quality and safety in a manufacturing environment. Requires at least 5 years of TIG welding experience, ability to read blueprints, operate a bending brake press, read a tape measure, and work with tools while standing for long periods; contract position with competitive hourly pay in Schaumburg, IL.
Required Qualifications
- At least 5 years' experience as a TIG welder with the ability to fabricate in a job shop environment
- Experience with steel or mild steel, material ranging from 1/16" up to 1⁄2"
- Use grinders, saws, polishers, hand tools, power tools
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints without assistance
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English
- Able to operate a bending brake press
- Ability to accurately read a tape measure
- Leveling and squaring ability (without the assistance of others)
- Ability to occasionally push/pull/carry up to 50 pounds by oneself
- Ability to bend and rotate body repeatedly
- Regularly required to stand for a minimum of 8 hours per day.
- Frequently required to grasp, handle/feel objects, control/manage tools, and use hands/arms.
- Occasionally required to walk, stoop, kneel and crouch.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
