Job Summary
Plan work order procedures, gather tools and materials, and repair or fabricate items using cutting, burning, and welding techniques. Monitor the welding, burning, and fitting process to prevent overheating, warping, or distortion. Prepare, assemble, and tack weld parts while maintaining, organizing, and cleaning equipment and work areas. Notify the supervisor immediately of any faulty equipment or defective materials. Complete a formal apprenticeship or a three-year in-company training program. Full-time role from 6 am to 3 pm, Monday through Friday, with a salary of $19.00 to $21.00 per hour. Benefits include dental, health, and vision insurance, plus paid time off and an employee discount.
Required Qualifications
- Thorough understanding of machines and tools used in welding including designs, uses, maintenance and repair
- Basic understanding of design techniques, principles, and tools necessary for the precise production of technical plans, drawings, models and blueprints
- Excellent ability to read and listen to assignments given in a variety of forms
- Completion of a formal apprenticeship OR successful completion of an in-company, three-year training program
- Basic understanding of mathematics as related to welding assignments
- Qualified candidates must be able to weld components that are vertical, flat, or overhead
- Candidates must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision weld, cut, and braze metal pieces and products
- Candidates must be able to use flame-cutting and hand welding equipment
