Job Summary
Welder based in Nunavut on a fly-in fly-out 3x3 rotation. Responsibilities include reviewing mill equipment specifications, engineering drawings, and layout plans to determine welding requirements for fixed-plant assets such as conveyors, chutes, crushers, slurry lines, and structural supports; assess material properties to select appropriate welding processes and consumables (hard-surfacing, corrosion-resistant materials); prepare and fit components by cutting, beveling, shaping, and aligning materials to meet precise measurements; operate a wide range of tools and fabrication equipment (torches, plasma cutters, grinders, ironworkers, drills, pipe-preparation machinery); perform high-quality welds in varied orientations and confined spaces using SMAW, MIG, TIG, and flux-core; conduct inspections and non-destructive testing to identify cracking, wear, fatigue, or corrosion, and perform preventive maintenance on welding equipment.
Required Qualifications
- Two (2) years of post-trade certification experience in process plant equipment
- Interprovincial Red seal trade designation in welding or Certificate of Qualification (CoQ)
- Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) certificate
- Physically able to perform duties, lifting up to 50 pounds
