Job Summary
Weld structural metal products using various equipment including welders, shears, grinders, ironworkers, or plasma cutters while maintaining welding equipment. Read blueprints and drawings to plan layouts, prepare work with grinders and measuring devices, and operate manual and automated welding units in vertical and horizontal positions. Fabricate new or replacement parts, examine welds for bead size, grind joint workpieces, repair improperly welded pieces, and tack assemblies together. Assemble component parts using hand and small power tools, maintain equipment by changing hoses and fittings, and organize work orders by complexity and materials to ensure efficient processing. Account for time and completed work via an online computer terminal while meeting established productivity and quality standards. Comply with plant safety procedures and specialized protective equipment requirements.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (G.E.D.)
- 2 - 4 years of Steel & Aluminum Experience
- Wire Feed welding
- Fabrication with Welding & Layout
- Demonstrate competency in basic shop math
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and other shop drawings
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Possess the ability to drive for results, hold self-accountable, and continuously improve
- Able to wear specialized protective or safety equipment
Desired Qualifications
- Welding certificate highly preferred
- Mechanical with Hydraulics (preferred)
- Comfortable using power tools, pneumatic wrenches, grinder; etc.
- Flexible and responsive, with a strong teamwork orientation
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Desire to learn new skills and improve technical knowledge
- Commitment to quality and accuracy of work performed and continuous improvement
