Welder (2nd Shift)

Job Summary
Prepare materials for welding; read weld blueprints, engineered drawings, and follow work order requirements. Set up the welding machine for specific materials, thicknesses, and positions using complicated weld fixtures and weld positioner (turntable). Dimensionally inspect welds and other parts using calipers, protractors, and gauges; inspect all parts for proper assembly and cosmetic defects. Work outside department as required and complete tasks within manufacturing schedules and standard times. Follow all safety guidelines and wear Personal Protective Equipment; maintain compliance with applicable laws and Barnes Aerospace policies. The role requires reading, interpreting blueprints, performing setup and inspection, and ensuring quality and safety in a 2nd-shift manufacturing environment.
Required Qualifications
- Certification in GTAW
- AWS D17.1
- PWA 16
- 3-5 years welding experience
- Pass welding certification tests for current materials used in the shop
- Read, interpret, and process blueprints and operation sheets
- Capable of using all standard bench tools and gauges required for setup, inspection, and welding of assemblies including calipers, height gauges, micrometers, and microscopes
- Complete required quarterly process control samples
- Complete logs, check sheets, job orders, and other paperwork for each job performed
- Maintain a neat and orderly workstation and promote overall good housekeeping practices
- Able to multitask in manufacturing cell work environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skill
- Proficient with Microsoft Office tools
