Welder (1st Shift)

Job Summary
1st Shift Welder position at Barnes Aerospace in East Granby, CT. Responsibilities include preparing materials for welding, reading weld blueprints and engineered drawings, setting up welding machines for specific materials and thicknesses, using weld fixtures and weld positioner, dimensionally inspecting welds with calipers, protractors, and gauges, inspecting parts for proper assembly and cosmetic defects, and maintaining safety and housekeeping in a manufacturing cell. Requires GTAW and AWS D17.1/PWA 16 certifications, 3-5 years welding experience, ability to read blueprints/operation sheets, proficiency with standard bench tools and gauges, completion of quarterly process control samples, and strong written/verbal communication with MS Office proficiency. Education: high school diploma or GED required. EOE. Export-control considerations apply for U.S. Persons.
Required Qualifications
- Certification in GTAW
- AWS D17.1; PWA 16 (in any group material)
- 3-5 years of welding experience
- Pass welding certification tests
- Read, interpret, and process blueprints and operation sheets
- Capable of using all standard bench tools and gauges required for setup, inspection, and welding of assemblies including calipers, height gauges, micrometers, and microscopes
- Complete required quarterly process control samples
- Complete logs, check sheets, job orders, and other paperwork for each job performed
- Maintain a neat and orderly workstation and promote overall good housekeeping practices
- Able to multitask in manufacturing cell work environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skill
- Proficient with Microsoft Office tools
- Welding expertise or willingness to learn and adapt
