Job Summary
Conduct full-scope MIG welding on structural steel components including rigid frame columns, rafters, beams, and special assemblies. Adjust weld settings, gun speed, and gas flow while maintaining bead shape, size, and penetration to specified standards. Read blueprints and tape measures to guide shop standards, perform repairs for pin holes and burn-through, and operate overhead cranes and forklifts. Train team members on proper welding procedures and maintain continuous improvement practices in the work area. Adhere to all safety rules and precautions within the manufacturing environment.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience welding in a production environment or valid welding certification
- Ability to read blueprints and drawings
- Ability to obtain and maintain CWB and AWS welding certification in accordance with Cornerstone Building Brands welding procedures
- Must be at least 18 years of age to apply
- Willingness to train, certify, and operate forklift and overhead crane
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with a forklift and/or overhead crane operation a plus
- Comfort and familiarity with power hand tools
- Ability to work effectively to meet deadlines
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
- General mathematical knowledge and proficiency with basic measuring instruments
