Job Summary
Fabricate, assemble, and repair metal structures, components, and machinery parts used in industrial and sugarcane milling operations. Perform tasks including flame cutting, bending, forming, beveling, and notching of metal while reading blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols. Apply MIG, TIG, Stick, and Flux-Cored welding techniques to execute fabrication and repair projects accurately. Inspect welded components for quality and safety compliance, operate welding and cutting equipment safely, and maintain tools and a clean work area. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to achieve project goals while ensuring proper use of personal protective equipment and following organizational safety guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Four (4) years of welding, fabrication, farm equipment repair or related experience
- Some previous lead-worker responsibility or demonstrated ability to lead the work of others
- American Welding Society welding certification
- Thorough knowledge of welding methods, materials, and shop practices
- Thorough knowledge of safety protocols and compliance standards related to welding equipment operation
- Skill in all aspects of SMAW(stick), GMAW(MIG), and GTAW(TIG) welding
- Skill in oxyacetylene welding and cutting
- Skill in air carbon arc cutting
- Skill in using mathematics required for the work
- Ability to repair, fabricate, hardface, and assemble complete structures or components of equipment
- Ability to read manuals, blueprints, schematics, and diagrams
- Ability to plan, assign, and guide the work of assigned staff
- Ability to follow instructions from supervisors and senior workers
- Ability to follow public safety guidelines and protocols
- Ability to maintain regular attendance
- Ability to perceive and discriminate visual cues or signals
- Ability to identify and distinguish colors
- Ability to perform moderately physically demanding work involving lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials up to 50 pounds
- Ability to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as required
- Ability to work inside and/or outside with exposure to adverse environmental conditions
