Weld Engineer

Job Summary
Technical leadership for welding processes, equipment, tooling, and production operations; develop and maintain welding procedures, work instructions, process documentation, and quality standards; establish welding parameters to meet product, customer, and industry requirements; support process validation, qualification, and certification activities; develop and deliver training on welding techniques, procedures, and quality requirements; lead root cause analysis for welding defects and process variation; participate in APQP, process development, and new product launches; support robotic welding operations, including robot setup, programming coordination, and process optimization; interface with customers, suppliers, and internal teams on welding requirements and quality concerns; travel may be required for customer, supplier, and manufacturing locations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Welding Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related technical discipline; equivalent experience may be considered
- Experience supporting welding operations in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of welding processes, welding metallurgy, and fabrication techniques
- Experience developing welding procedures, process documentation, and work instructions
- Strong understanding of welding quality standards, inspection methods, and process control techniques
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and standard engineering software
Desired Qualifications
- Robotic welding systems experience
- Welding automation
- Experience with APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans
- Welding certifications or credentials
- Automotive/high-volume manufacturing experience
- Experience with MIG/MTA (GMAW/TIG) or other welding processes
- Experience developing welding procedures and work instructions
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Root cause analysis and corrective action skills
- Knowledge of welding quality standards and inspection methods
