Weld Engineer - Relocation Assistance Available

Job Summary

Develop welder requirements and designs for quoting new business while establishing welding procedures and troubleshooting issues to ensure product quality, safety, and efficiency. Specify, source, and implement welding process equipment, develop preventative maintenance programs, and maintain a Plant Welding Standards Manual that includes operational guidelines and process parameters. Work with product design personnel to assure manufacturability, optimize process parameters using cut and etch equipment, and lead root cause analysis for test failures using methodologies like 8D and Fishbone Diagrams. Stop production immediately if defective or unsafe conditions appear and conduct in-house training to ensure proper techniques are utilized throughout plant operations.

Required Qualifications

  • Previous experience in Weld Engineering
  • Automotive experience
  • Knowledge of Robotic Welding
  • A Bachelor degree in Weld Engineering, a similar technical discipline or equivalent experience
  • At least three (3) years in the weld engineering function that displays progressive work-related skill, knowledge, or experience in a fast-paced, high volume manufacturing environment
  • Preferably with an OEM or Tier I/II supplier in the automotive environment
  • Strong computer skills, including but not limited to, Microsoft Software (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Knowledge of Welding processes and procedure
  • Must be available to work overtime (daily, weekend & some holidays)
  • Consistent attendance
